UFC 194 is almost here, after what seems like an eternity Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor will finally face off in The Octagon this Saturday (or Sunday depending on what side of the globe you are on) and answer all the questions that the fans have been asking since the McGregor hype train began to pick up steam. We at #WHOATV have been debating heavily who we think will emerge victorious on the card and as you can see from our picks above we are far from unanimous on the winners and losers of UFC 194. 12341572_1000576496654853_6083534678440343399_n Perhaps surprisingly, we at #WHOATV are almost unanimous in thinking McGregor will defeat pound-for-pound number one Jose Aldo. Tony Quant stands alone with his prediction of Jose remaining champion. While our picks are very McGregor dominant it should be noted that Aldo is champion for a reason and is a very well established, talented, fighter if you are the betting type Aldo is a smart choice at the time of writing although lines are closing quickly. UFC Middleweight Champion: Chris Weidman, will be standing opposite former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion: Luke Rockhold. Our picks are leaning heavy towards Weidman but Rockhold is a dangerous fighter wherever the fight goes. This one will probably boil down to who has the most grit, and who can establish their distance, another deciding factor will be if Weidman can get Rockhold down. Up next we have what could turn out to be an explosive grappling battle in Jacare Souza vs Yoel Romero. I personally would give the edge to Souza, I believe he has better stand up and more ways to finish the fight if it does go to the ground, which is exactly where explosive Cuban wrestling phenom Romero will want to take it. Much like the aforementioned match up, Damian Maia vs Gunnar Nelson could very well end up being a grappling match as both fighters are decorated grapplers. Sometimes however, when two grapplers face off, it quickly turns into a ho hum stand up fight and if this is the case I believe Nelson has the better stand up. His bout against Brandon Thatch showed us that when Nelson hurt him with effective karate style strikes. Starting off the card we have two featherweights who are both resurging recently. Max Holloway vs Jeremy Stephens could very well be fight of the night. Both fighters love to stand and trade, I gave the edge to Holloway here as he is undefeated since his loss to McGregor and is the longer fighter. It’s all about if Stephens can close the distance and land some heavy blows. So that’s it! These are our picks for UFC 194, let us know who you have picked on our facebook or twitter.
