The one thing the Ultimate Fighter can be applauded for aside from breaking the fourth wall; was the number of talented fighters that came from it. Dana White’s looking for a fight could potentially do the same, the first season found Sage Northcutt and Mickey Gall among others.
Both have looked impressive since their debuts. Sage Northcutt is only 20 and has 10 fights under his belt with an 8-2 record. Mickey Gall just turned 25 and is 4-0 with his last 2 victories over the much-anticipated debut of CM Punk and the other over NorthCutt himself.
So why is Mickey Gall an interesting opponent for Conor McGregor? Even though Gall is a Welterweight and McGregor is the UFC™ Lightweight champion, Gall can fight at 155lbs and McGregor has fought Nate Diaz at 170lbs. McGregor gets criticized for his ground game, Mickey Gall has shown that is his strength.
McGregor is 5ft 9” while Mickey Gall is 6ft 2”, they both half an equal reach of 74 inches, what Conor McGregor lacks in height; Mickey lacks in experience. What Mickey Gall lacks in stand up, Conor McGregor lacks in ground. Both are coming into their prime, both are shit-talkers; if McGregor wins the nay-sayers will be put to rest; if Gall wins you have solidified a new potential star, It’s a win-win. And Dana White’s Looking for a fight will gain more attention
