After weeks of debate over who should be Tyron Woodley’s next opponent, the welterweight champion announced on Monday, via his podcast ‘The Morning Wood Show’, that he wants a rematch with Stephen Thompson on March 4th at UFC 209. “March 4h, UFC 209 in Las Vegas, Nevada, at what I believe to be the T-Mobile Center, you will see ‘Wonderboy’ get the worst ass-whooping of his life. And hopefully all of his fans and all of his over-entitlement decases at that moment and we can do a eulogy for it.” The last time Woodley and Wonderboy clashed was at UFC 205 in at Madison Square Garden in New York. Ever since Woodley retained his welterweight belt with a controversial majority draw, Thompson has campaigned for a rematch to ‘settle things’. Woodley on the other side wanted other fights, including a 180-pound catchweight bout against UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping. On Sunday a obviously frustrated Thompson posted a picture of a signed bout agreement to fight Woodley on Twitter. Woodley, who initially brushed off Wonderboy’s tweet, agreed to the rematch and promises to make his opponent pay for the way the situation has played out. “From this point forward, I’m going to commit to taking this dude out in the most embarrassing and worst fashion. And with that said, that last fight is in the dust. I ain’t going to cry over spilled milk. I ain’t going to cry over what round, who did what, where, when, where. That fight is in the dust. It’s done. It’s over.” The UFC too, officially confirmed Woodley vs. Wonderboy 2 to be on the UFC 209 fight card, which takes place on March 4th, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event further features a heavyweight clash between Alistair Overeem and Mark Hunt. You can check out the full podcast with Woodley’s announcement to fight Wonderboy below.
