Due to illness, Ian McCall is forced to pull out of his bout against Irishman Neil Seery at tomorrow’s Fight Night 99 in Belfast. McCall(13-5-1) and Seery(16-12-0) were set It seems the no. 5 ranked flyweight is under a curse – since the last time he stepped into the cage on January 31st, 2015 against John Lineker, McCall was set to fight three times and three times the bout was cancelled last minute. After Justin Scoggins failed to make weight for UFC 201, at UFC 203 Ray Borg fell ill and could not face ‘Uncle Creepy’ either. Earlier this week, on MMAjunkie Radio, McCall seemed rather indifferent about the possibility of another fight of his being cancelled: “There is no pit in my stomach. If he makes weight, or if he shows up, then he shows up. If he doesn’t, then I get paid again.” Opponent Neil Seery, however, announced in the build up to the fight, this was going to be his last bout as a professional: “It’s all about Saturday night. After that, we’ll pick up as it goes on. I’ll decide as I go along. But it’s all about Saturday night. I have a tough fight ahead of me. I’m in no way looking past Ian McCall. He’s a fantastic fighter, ranked no. 5 in the world. I’m going to go out there (and) give my all to try and beat Ian McCall.” Seery arrived at the weigh-ins in Belfast and made weight at 126 pounds. The UFC confirmed the Irish fighter will be paid his show money. What remains unclear after McCall pulled out of the fight today is whether or not, Seery will decide to give it another go for his official retirement fight.
