The 'Super Samoan' Mark Hunt knows that he does his best work in MMA with his fists, and will need to avoid the mat at all costs when he fights Brock Lesnar at UFC 200, but speaking to Inside MMA, the New Zealender seems very confident in his ability to keep the fight where he has the advantage. Brock Lesnar may not have fought in some time, and is far from being one of the best kickboxers in the world, but there is no doubt whatsoever about his power, athleticism, and wrestling pedigree. Despite being ranked inside the top 10, heavyweight veteran Mark Hunt will be keenly aware he has a formidable task ahead of him to stay off his back. Speaking with the Bas Rutten and Josh Barnett on Inside MMA, he was characteristically sanguine about the match-up, and about his ability to keep the fight on the feet. Questioned about Lesnar's wrestling prowess, he said:
"I've been training with a bunch of guys I brought over, pretty much just getting mysef a lot better. I mean, his game, of course, is to put me on the ground, and my game is, of course, to strike. "But I don't think he's gonna put me on the ground. And, if he does, I'll be able to get up anyway, so it just depends on who puts their gameplan in first."
Hunt acknowledged that his bout with Lesnar will do little for his ranking but everything for his profile, and is looking for a top 10 opponent next. But what's the hardest hitter in the UFC going to do first if he wins?
"After this fight I'm gonna go to Disneyland, take the kids. So if anyone out there knows a hook up, hook us up. "Disneyland, baby!"
